Raisa Ionin

Technical Information Specialist

Raisa Ionin joined NIH library in 2020. She holds a Master’s in Library  Science (MLS) from University of Maryland iSchool and has over 15 years of experience as a reference librarian, cataloger, and electronic resource and metadata coordinator.  She worked for the Department of Defense (DoD) through Deloitte Consulting; first at the Defense Centers of Excellence (DCoE) for Psychological Health and Traumatic Brain Injury, where she was combining the duties of a Research and Reference Librarian and a Selector/Electronic Resources Cataloger; then later as a Data Librarian for the Defense Health Agency, where she was working on standardizing data elements for an inpatient database. Prior to joining NIH Library, she worked at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI) as a Metadata Editor, where she was working on standardizing and improving NCEI scientific data sets for better searchability and discoverability. Raisa also volunteers at the Data Management Training Clearinghouse as a Digital Resources Editor where she ensures the quality of data management training resources and their metadata.
