Cindy leads the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Library’s Writing Center and Editing Service, and answers questions as the NIH Library copyright librarian. Since joining the Library in 2001, she has served as a biomedical librarian, instructor, past Communications Team leader, and current Editing Services Team leader.
Cindy earned her master’s degree in Library Science from Clarion University of Pennsylvania and her bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Public Communications from the University of Alaska, Anchorage. Her background includes work in the fields of surgery, public relations, marketing, and brand management. Previously, she worked as a Boeing librarian contracted to the Navy at China Lake, CA and as a research consultant with the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).
With her colleagues, Cindy conducts writing-related research and provides writing-related training for NIH employees. She is a member of the American Medical Writers Association (AMWA) and holds a certificate in Copyright Management.
