The NIH Library Bioinformatics Program is organizing a Mega-Event in Lipsett Amphitheater that will showcase its bioinformatics licensed resources. Scientists from these companies will describe the practical applications of the resources in research.
Two sessions will be held mainly covering: 1) high throughput data analysis (June 14) such as next gen sequencing data analysis, microarray data analysis and 2) functional analysis (June 19) such as analysis of gene sets and pathway analysis. Because of the versatility of these resources, overlapping of the session topics may occur in the presentations.
Date: Thursday, 14 June 2012 and Tuesday, 19 June 2012
Time: 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM on both days
Location: Lipsett Amphitheater, NIH Building 10
No registration is required.
14 June: Agilent (GeneSpring), CLCbio, DNASTAR, and Partek
19 June: Ariadne, BIOBASE (Human Gene Mutation Database Professional), Computable Genomix, GeneGo, Genomatix, and Ingenuity

The NIH Library is collaborating with the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) in support of its recently formed Task Force studying how the arts affect human development at all stages of life. The Task Force includes members from 13 federal agencies, including NIH institutes, NIA and NICHD. The Library is providing the evidence-based literature search and results, which will be systematically reviewed by agency members during the early summer months, followed by a workshop to discuss results. Stay-tuned in the coming weeks for additional news as the Library and the Task Force uncover more about creativity in the arts over the human lifespan.
Site-wide SciFinder access is immediately available to the NIH community through May 31, 2012.
Immediately receive your login ID and password by going to SciFinder ID and Password Request. Each SciFinder user needs his or her own personal SciFinder ID because SciFinder is password-protected. Current SciFinder subscribers do not need to apply for a new login ID.
Learn more about SciFinder at one of the introductory training sessions hosted by the NIH Library, in the Library’s Training Room:

The NIH Library is preparing a list of journal and database cancellation candidates for 2013. This list will be posted for review by all NIH staff during the month of June 2012. Your feedback will be an essential part of the cancellation decision-making process.
Our budget reduction for FY 2013 builds on cuts made in FY 2012, which resulted in the loss of contract staff positions, the cancellation of relatively low-use journals and databases, and cuts to many other budget categories.
