Internationally renowned brain experts will gather at Moody Gardens in Galveston on May 14-16 to discuss ways to treat and rehabilitate elderly men and women with traumatic brain injuries.

The Galveston Brain Injury Conference is an invitational event sponsored by the Center for Rehabilitation Sciences and the School of Allied Health Sciences at the University of Texas Medical Branch in collaboration with the Transitional Learning Center at Galveston which provides rehabilitation for those who have suffered an acute brain injury. Latest Findings On Lyme Disease: Annual Conference At UNH Highlights Diagnosis And Treatment Of Debilitating Disease, May 17th
Lyme disease is the most prevalent tick-borne disease in the United States, costing about $1 billion a year due to inappropriate medical care, lost productivity, and legal fees associated with misdiagnosis. The latest research on the diagnosis and treatment of the crippling disease will be presented during the second largest Lyme disease conference in the United States, "Understanding and Treating Lyme Disease: Choices and Challenges" on May 17, 2008 at the University of New Haven (UNH), Dodds Theater. The conference is open to the general public with a registration fee of $65. The event includes an evening networking reception for Lyme disease patients. 5th World Congress on Prevention of Diabetes and its Complications

American Society For Microbiology 108th General Meeting June 1-5, 2008 In Boston, Massachusetts

17th Annual Short Course on Experimental Models of Human Cancer
This is a graduate-level genetics course for predoctoral and postdoctoral students as well as established investigators entering the field of mouse genetics. The course focuses on the mouse as an experimental tool in cancer research. Workshops will include: mouse genome informatics; laboratory animal biomethods (optional); and gross pathology, necropsy and tumor histo-pathology. The intensive course offers a mix of formal lectures, discussion groups, demonstrations, workshops and tutorials. The course is held in a retreat-like setting and is limited to 35 participants to ensure a supportive learning atmosphere with exceptional interaction between students and faculty.
