Directions & Maps
From Baltimore and All Points North of Washington, DC
Take I-95 south toward Washington, DC. At I-495 (Capital Beltway), head west toward Silver Spring/Bethesda. From the Beltway (I-495), take Exit 34 which is Rt. 355 (Wisconsin Ave./Rockville Pike) and head south toward Washington/Bethesda. At the fourth traffic light, turn right onto South Drive and follow the signs to Visitor Parking.    
OR
Take I-95 south toward Washington, DC. At I-495 (Capital Beltway), head west toward Silver Spring/Bethesda. From the Beltway (I-495), take Exit 36 (Old Georgetown Road), heading south for about 2 miles. Turn left into the NIH campus at Center Drive.

From Virginia and All Points South of Washington, DC
Take I-95 north toward Washington, DC. At I-495 (Capital Beltway), head north toward Silver Spring/Bethesda. From the Beltway (I-495), take Exit 34 which is Rt. 355 (Wisconsin Ave./Rockville Pike) and head south toward Washington/Bethesda. The Library is located in the Clinical Center (Building 10). From the South entrance the Library is the only door down the left corridor. From within Building 10, the Library is located toward the Masur auditorium. When standing in front of the Masur auditorium, the Library will be located down the right hand corridor.Campus Map

From Metro
The NIH Library may be reached via the Washington, D.C. Metro underground railway system (see Metro map). The Library is 2 blocks west of the Medical Center stop on the Metro red line. Upon exiting the escalator proceed west toward the end of the Bus pickup. The last bus stop area is a Campus Shuttle pickup area. The Campus shuttle will bring you directly to the Clinical Center (Building 10).

Library Privileges
NIH ID cards are required to borrow books, use staff photocopiers, request computer searches, and receive other Library services for NIH-related work. Only permanent staff and Summer Students are pre-authorized for Library services. All other users need their Administrative Officers to authorize Library services through the NIH Enterprise Directory (NED). An Administrative Officer can authorize a user for NIH Library services by checking the box marked "Authorize" under the "Services" tab in the NED system. The NIH Library system will be updated within 48 hours of authorization and Library services will be granted at that time.
